He is a Master Examiner in JuJutsu and Judo. Therefore, he and several of his top students are qualified to recommend for promotion persons who qualify and are appropriately tested.
Further , any qualified , reputable person may train in California with Professor Denora at the International Training Centre. That person must pass certain tests and be interviewed in depth for the potential aspects to enhance that person's skill , conditioning and acumen. At this time the training camp can only accomodate 20 persons. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Profile -Professor John Denora - Japanese Martial Arts DeNora is a name that comes to us from the Russ Viking Regions of Nora , Sweden . It was a name of royal status. John Denora was born into a martial family being first trained by his grandfather. John's grandfather was a former soldier and very prominent businessman. He taught John western sword (saber/cutlass/bayonet) and knife fighting at a very early age. Sensei Denora was a stand out athlete of many different varsity sports and his grandfather seeing his potential hired the famous Charles Atlas (Angelo Charles Siciliano of NYC) of the Dynamic Tension Methods to train him during his teen years. Charles Atlas trained many great athletes in baseball , boxing , football , weight lifting , body building etc. John's Grandfather was a staunch republican and supporter and personal friend of President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt. President Roosevelt was one of the first people in the U.S. to experience and train in authentic Daito Ryu. John's athletic ability drew him to the boxing ring where he competed in the amateur diamong gloves divisions. He trained at Mickey Connelly's upstairs gym in Paterson , New Jersey . His trainer was the famous Nick Fiorita. John was also exposed to the basics of JuJutsu by Charles Atlas. John's Central High School football team were mostly boxers. One of the member's of the team was the forgotten boxing warrior Vince Martinez of Paterson , N.J. , now deceased. His family now reside in Hollywood , Florida . Vince Martinez , USA was a Welterweight Champion. Vince was a cautious shoot boxer with a powerful left hook , right cross , combinations and a great counter puncher. John still has Charles Atlas' JuJutsu notes and body building , exercise and health secret's program. Martial arts ended- up being a life-long passion for John Denora.Mr. Denora obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Physiology from Indiana University at Bloomington , Indiana . With this degree he was also recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate of ROTC. In 1953 John served as an officer in the United States Marine Corp with the Fourth Marine Regimental Combat Team in Nara , Japan . He was introduced by then Captain Charles F. King now a retired Lt. Col. of Marines and is 82 years young to the famous Jujutsu/Judo Sensei T.Nakamura. Nakamura Sensei taught near and at the 2nd Bn. , 4th Marine Regiment's base. John trained with him learning many arts from this revered teacher. Dr. Nakamura was also a master of Ki and the sword (Shin Ken). His sword ability was formidable. While living in Japan Sensei trained with many great masters learning true samurai bugei arts. He served in Korea as a young 2nd Lieutenant .Lt. Denora was assigned as First Marine Division Ammunition Officer of the 1st Marine Division , FMF in South East Korea at the DMZ.Here he received from the General of the 1st Mar. Div. the Letter of Appreciation , United Nations Medal and Korean Service Medal etc . While stationed and living there he trained and befriended many of the top Hapkido teachers of the era exposing them to their parent art the true Nihon Daito Ryu as well as defending our countries national interests as a warrior. He did special duty at Quantico , Va and his background was cleared for Top Secret/Crytography. Upon returning to the U.S. , Captain Denora was stationed at Quantico Va. in the M.C.S officer training cadre. He was a hand to hand instructor and combat obstacle course etc at T&T Regiment for OCS , ROTC and the Platoon Leader's Class (PLC) as well as an expert marksman. His precise shooting ability is why he was chosen as the instructor of various elite USMC rifle and pistol teams. He fired expert with rifle and pistol every year he served in the USMC.His is a Lifetime NRA Master Rifle and Pistol shooter. While serving at Quantico , Virginia he worked and trained with fellow marine and martial artist from Wisconsin . Then Captain Donn Draeger was a Kodokan Black Belt and noted martial author , historian , anthropologist diplomaed from the University of Hawaii and special fitness instructor , weight lifting , to include Judo and many other martial art subjects. John and Donn trained together at the Pentagon Judo Club. Captain Denora trained literally thousands of our countries elite marines of Aviation , Infantry and Recon. in hand to hand , weapons , special operations , combat unit tactics etc. Professor Denora has trained and taught martial arts in Japan , Okinawa , Korea , Hawaii , Taiwan and other areas learning from the great masters before him. A partial list of some of these great masters include: Katsumi Yonezawa- Sensei lived and trained with this great master at Hokkaido , Japan . He was certified (Kiyoju Dairii) as a personal special representative of the grandmaster and was presented with the Hiden Mokuroku of techniques. One of only a handful of westerners to ever receive this teaching license in true Daito Aiki Ju Jitsu from the Soke of Bokuyokan Daito-Ryu himself. Making him fourth generation after Sokaku Takeda no Minamoto no Masayoshi---the last great Samurai of the Minamoto Genji clan. Horikawa Kodo and his dad were the top disciples of Sokaku Takeda. In fact Kodo was nicked named Kodo by Sokaku Takeda which means "Lucky or Fortunate" when he helped Sokaku Takeda pan gold and helped him find a gold mine in the mountains of Kitami , Hokkaido Japan . Meijin by Imperial Decree of the Emperor of Japan Horikawa Kodo teacher of Katsumi Yonezawa began DAITO-RYU JUJUTSU training on 12 May 1914 under Sokaku TAKEDA and his father. Received the HIDEN MOKUROKU in 1931 and in June of the same year the HIDEN OGI MOKUROKU. Received permission to become a Shihan at age 37. One of the youngest in the history of Daito Ryu because he was a veritable genius and man of letters and a High School principal. In September 1950 Meijin Horikawa established the Daito-ryu Aiki Ju Jutsu KODOKAI in Kitami , Hokkaido . He was mentor of GM Katsumi Yonezawa , who also became a High School Principal and before his death was Assistant Ambassador to Germany , stationed at Munich where he taught Judo and JuJutsu. Mr. Denora further trained with the great Yoshiteru Otani- NYC-McBurney YMCA Judo , Jujutsu , Kenjutsu Master and Sensei of Jigen Ryu. Otani Sensei was a sword saint and wondrous man. Also , John was trained by Donn Draeger- Fellow USMC Officer and Martial Historian/Instructor , Kodokan Judo and Kenjutsu.Eiji Nakamura of Daito Ryu who was one of the great Daito Master/Expert in Kitami , Hokkaido gave special instruction to Sensei Denora at the Budokan Dojo of Sensei F.J. Lovret. Master Eiji Nakamura died of blood cancer several years ago. Sensei Denora has received the three Daito Ryu confidential instructor books and was awarded in 1986 the Daito Ryu Expert , Patience , Hope and Peace Award. He was also presented hand painted copies of the Sokaku Takeda's drawings of pressure points etc.Doo Wai- grandmaster of White Tiger kung-fu (Bak Fu Pai) certified Mr. Denora in various esoteric arts of White Tiger. The well noted Sensei Fredrick John Lovret- Renown Author of Japanese Martial Arts and Revered Teacher of Professor John Denora is of the lineage of Kenjutsu of Tenshin-ry{ and the Aikijutsu of the Yamate-ry{
